New Orleans Police Shooting: Officer Killed In L.A. — Travis Boys Arrested

New Orleans police officer Daryle Holloway was murdered. A 24-hour manhunt lead to the arrest of suspected cop killer Travis Boys. The 33-year-old man was captured by police on Sunday morning.

Officer Daryle Holloway, a father of three, was killed while transporting Travis Boys in his New Orleans police cruiser on Saturday. How Boy was allegedly able to break through the cruise barrier which kept him separated from Officer Holloway remains unclear. Boys is accused of grabbing a gun and shooting the NOPD officer while still handcuffed.

Travis Boys being arrested on an aggravated assault charge when Daryle Holloway handcuffed him and put him in the back of the New Orleans cruiser. Boys was reportedly frisked before being put inside the vehicle.

NOPD spokesman Tyler Gamble said police shooting investigators do not feel Boys killed Holloway with the officer’s own gun. New Orleans Investigators reportedly recovered two guns from the vehicle, a.40-caliber Smith and Wesson and a.38-caliber revolver. Daryle Holloway’s gun was reportedly found still in its holster.

NOLA Mayor Mitch Landrieu called the Daryle Holloway killing a “despicable and cowardly act.”

“He was more than a great cop,” Mayor Landrieu said. “He was a good man. He was a good father. Our hearts break for him and his children on Father’s Day.”

New Orleans Police Department Superintendent Michael Harrison told the media that Travis Boys might be “double-jointed” and was able to maneuver his body to get his hands free enough to attack and kill Officer Holloway.

“That prisoner somehow was able to get his hands from behind his back where he was handcuffed, where he was then handcuffed from the front. Apparently, he is double jointed and able to do that in the back of the car,” Harrison added. “Officer Holloway put up a fight to try to get the subject to not exit the vehicle but succumbed to his injuries.”

During the 24-hour manhunt for the accused cop killer, Travis Boys was able to stay hidden from NOPD helicopters and K-9 units. Police officers found Boys behind the wheel of a pickup truck at one point, but he managed to flee on foot after a short police chase.

The alleged killer of Daryle Holloway was ultimately captured after a rookie cop and his training officer spotted dangling broken handcuffs from Boys’ wrist as he attempted to board a bus.
