Watch a crucial FIFA 2015 Women’s World Cup match live online when the USA faces Nigeria on Tuesday, knowing a win guarantees that they finish first in Group D — the “Group of Death” — and that even if they lose by one goal, they could still go through to the knockout round.
Nigeria, on the other hand, sits at the bottom of the group with just a single point and faces a win-or-go-home scenario against the USA in Vancouver on June 16.

While the Super Falcons believe that they have the team speed and free-flowing offensive style to give Team USA problems, the Nigerian women say they are playing for something even more important than advancement to the knockout round.
“Our girls,” forward Desire Oparanozie told the USA Today newspaper. “They are always with us.”
Those girls, of course, are the 276 schoolgirls abducted more than a year ago by the terrorist group Boko Haram, which controls large swaths of eastern Nigeria. Despite efforts by the Nigerian military and a global awareness campaign symbolized by the #BringBackOurGirls hashtag, most of the girls remain missing, their fates unknown.
In fact, said Nigerian forward Asisat Oshoala, the Nigeria women’s team feels that it plays to set an example for all girls and young women in their home country.
“We want to show girls and young women in Nigeria what is possible. It is difficult for girls in Nigeria. There is not much support. People don’t want them to play soccer or don’t understand why they want to play. We want to show them to have pride in themselves and what they are doing and that if you work hard at something you can represent your country or do something great.”
On the Team USA side, veteran forward and all-time leading international goal scorer Abby Wambach, continues to bemoan the fact that Tuesday’s game, like all the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup games, will be played on an artificial surface.
“I’m way more carefree [on grass],” said Wambach. “I throw my body. I’m not worried about anything. There’s no second-guessing. I definitely think that the United States has more goals if we’re playing on grass.”
