Billie Lourd: Daughter Of Carrie Fisher Drops Hint About ‘Star Wars’ Role, Talks ‘Scream Queens’

Billie Lourd just dropped a tiny hint about who she will be playing in Star Wars: Episode VII — The Force Awakens by letting fans know who she won’t be playing.

Billie Lourd is the daughter of Star Wars actress Carrie Fisher, so there’s been speculation that Disney kept things in the family by casting her as the daughter of Princess Leia. However, Billie shot this casting rumor down during a recent chat with Interview, and she did it in a very straightforward way.

“I’m not Princess Leia’s daughter,” Lourd revealed.

Just last month, the 22-year-old rising star directly addressed another rumor about her Star Wars VII character. As the Inquisitr previously reported, some early reports stated that Billie Lourd was set to play a younger version of Princess Leia in a flashback scene. However, Billie told Entertainment Tonight that she will not be playing Leia or any other princess.

“That’s a lie. That’s a rumor. I wish I played a young princess.”

“I can’t talk to you about the character, or the lack of character,” Lourd said. “I didn’t even say that. That was too much.”

The “lack of character” comment could suggest that she’s playing some sort of emotionless droid in The Force Awakens, or perhaps she was simply trying to hint that Star Wars fans shouldn’t expect her character to have a lot of screen time.

Even if Billie’s role isn’t a big one, most young actresses would consider it the opportunity of a lifetime. It’s an even bigger score when you take her lack of acting experience into consideration — The Force Awakens is Billie Lourd’s first-ever acting gig.

Obviously, being the daughter of Carrie Fisher played a huge role in helping Lourd land a role in a Star Wars movie, but she’s hoping to prove that she’s more than just her mother’s daughter. Lourd’s second big score was a part in the upcoming Fox series Scream Queens, a horror-comedy from the same twisted minds behind American Horror Story and Glee. Lourd plays a sorority girl who goes by the moniker “Chanel No. 3,” one of the pastel-clad minions who grovels at the feet of college queen bee Chanel Oberlin (Emma Roberts). As the Inquisitr previously reported, Scream Queens has been described as “Mean Girls meets Friday the 13th” and “Heathers meets Halloween.”

“It’s scary, but there’s a lot of comedic breaks,” Billie said of the series. She also credits Chanel No. 3 for upping her “sass level for sure.” If Billie is hoping to become one of Hollywood’s hottest young stars, she’s definitely in good company. In addition to Emma Roberts, the Scream Queens cast includes Lea Michele, Ariana Grande, Keke Palmer, Abigail Breslin, and Skyler Samuels.

According to Interview, Billie Lourd isn’t just trying to break into acting — she’s also busy creating “bluesy, R&B-inflected music.” So if Ryan Murphy wants to give Scream Queens a splash of Glee by throwing in a musical number, Billie is his go-to girl.

Do you think Billie Lourd is set to become the next big thing after her roles in Star Wars VII and Scream Queens?
