Cube Within A Cube: Watch As A Machinist Creates Art From One Piece Of Metal [Video]

The Rubik’s cube make be making a comeback, but one Russian machinist is making another kind of extraordinary cube. Using his matching skills, he has crafted a cube within a cube within a cube using only one piece of metal.

The machinist starts out with a metal cylinder and starts cutting it down to the size he needs. Then he starts working his magic. Working on each of the four sides, the creator begins to hollow out the cube, making another cube inside the larger one, and still a smaller cube in the center.

The cube was made from a single piece of metal.

The guy behind the magic works with Bruns, based out of Russia, and has made a video of the whole process. According to the video’s description, which has been translated from Russian, the actual process was not that difficult, though only someone experienced enough could complete such a task.

“I not once heard that the manufacture of the cube in a cube only in a lathe is a kind of indicator of the ability of the turner. In fact, the production is not very difficult, although it requires some experience. In this video I filmed the process of creating three-cube in a cube (none of which can not be extracted from the other)”

Popular Mechanics is pretty impress with the feat. The video and the description is in Russian, but Popular Mechanics is still enthralled with the production of this cube.

Gizmodo had the same reaction, though they think there may be a bit of magic in regards to the fascinating cube.

“There is probably some negotiation with the Earth’s magnetic poles or some sort of magic going on here because somehow this guy is able to make a cube inside a cube inside a cube from a metal block. I have no idea what’s going on in the video half the time but watching the block get shaved to house three independent cubes within each other is pretty d*** crazy.”

The skill in making three interlocking cube from one piece of metal is pretty crazy, indeed. What do you think about the cube within a cube within a cube masterpiece?
