‘Constantine’ Season Two: The Fate Of John Constantine At NBC Has Been Decided

Constantine has had a long hard road at the NBC network. The show shuffled directions, directly after the pilot episode came out. One main co-star was swapped for another, and the show finally kicked into gear for most people after episode four, but was that too little too late? Well, according to the Inquisitr, Constantine’s fate would be decided before May 11.

Comic Book Resources reports that NBC has come to a decision, after Constantine lost the “back 9” episodes, and it finished its only 13 episodes in February. The fate every #Save Constantine twitter goer and fan did not want to hear has become a reality. Constantine producer Daniel Cerone tweeted the unfortunate fate of NBC supernatural detective show Friday.

“NBC a ‘no’ for Season 2. Warner Bros working hard to find #Constantine new home. Stay active. Stream. Tweet. #Save Constantine #Hellblazers”

Constantine season 1 ended on a Friday, and the DC/Vertigo Comics adaptation ended its tenor at NBC on the same day. Cerone thanked NBC for season 1, and chalked up the decision to the station having a “strong development season”.

“Thanks to @NBC for Season 1. Got a nice call from the powers there. We were considered but they feel they had a strong development season.”

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Constantine joins four other NBC shows that got the axe. State of Affairs,About a Boy, Marry Me, and One Big Happy. Two of those shows had been long since predicted to be cancelled, so it certainly should not come as a shock to many. Cerone tried to boost Constantine fan morale by pushing the idea that the numbers could still be considered a hit at another network.

“Bear in mind, #Constantine ratings low for NBC but would constitute a hit at many networks. Fearless faith. #Save Constantine#Hellblazers”

At one time, rumors circulate that the embattled NBC show was being shopped to the SyFy network, and many fans seem to like that idea. However, so far, those rumors have not panned out. Shortly after Cerone made the Twitter announcement of Constantine‘s demise at NBC, one Twitter follower suggested the CW network, which has a wealth of comic book adaptations under its belt. He seemed to like that idea.

“Did you read my mind? #Hellblazers#Save Constantine Decklin Wall @ShockingFimz

@CW_network take #Constantine for season 2!!!!! “

It is unclear if the CW will pickup where NBC gave up, but one thing is for certain, Constantine has much more to offer for a second season. Whether or not the CW could or would pick up the fledgling, former NBC show, is anyone’s guess. John Constantine rarely throws in the towel, but it remains to be seen if his fans will.
