In a previous report from the Inquisitr, it was revealed that the new Hunger Games film may not be the last in the franchise. And some of the plot points in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 might be altered slightly from the story in the original novels to allow for more prequels or sequels to come. For this reason, it might not be surprising for fans to learn that the star of the films, Jennifer Lawrence, is eager to delve deeper into the relationship between Katniss and Gale.
The romance was never explored too deeply in the books due to Katniss’ eventual relationship with Peeta and lack of time spent with Gale. But it seems that the final Hunger Games film might work to flesh out the special friendship between Katniss and Gale — or even future Hunger Games films that won’t be based on books by Suzanne Collins. According to the Venture Capital Post, Jennifer Lawrence revealed her true opinions about the romance in an interview. It seems as though Lawrence even prefers the story of Katniss and Gale to the romance between Katniss and Peeta.
“I loved that. Katniss and Gale have such a rich history, which we’ve never been able to fully, fully explore to the extent we do in this film. Up until now it always more about Katniss and Peeta. But there are so many complexities to Katniss and Gale and that relationship because before Katniss went into the Games, Gale was the only person who really understood her and knew her because they grew up together.”
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 will be the first movie in the franchise to be released in IMAX 3-D. According to Variety, Jennifer Lawrence also shared her opinion on the special release of the movie.
“I’m thrilled Mockingjay – Part 2 will be in Imax theaters,” said Lawrence. “Fans will now have the chance to see the film in any format they want, which is exciting; we recently saw the 3-D version of Mockingjay – Part 1 before its release in China, and the new level of immersion was really fantastic.”
