‘The Voice’ News: Could Luke Bryan Replace Blake Shelton On The TV Show?

Fans of The Voice have seen a vast array of different judges fill the seats during the show’s eight seasons, but two judges have remained constant: Blake Shelton and Adam Levine.

Now, Blake Shelton is throwing a name out there as a possible replacement for himself. Luke Bryan would do a great job filling his judges seat on The Voice, Shelton said during an interview with the Associated Press.

“I think Luke (Bryan) would be good — I do. He’d be a good person in that chair.”

While judges such as Christina Aguilera, CeeLo Green, Shakira and Usher have cycled through the futuristic red judges chairs on The Voice, Blake Shelton has been a constant. He’s been part of every season of The Voice since the show’s inception in 2011.

Shelton never gave any indication that he would be leaving The Voice anytime soon, but during the same interview he did say that he’d sacrificed a lot of his music career for The Voice.

“There also has to be an element of actually being willing to just give up, pretty much, your career to do it, your touring career. I’m just lazy enough. I may be the only one that was willing to do that.”

Shelton acknowledged that judging The Voice was exactly what he needed at the time he started, but he realizes that Luke Bryan might not be quite ready to do the same, according to the Associated Press article.

“After 15 years of touring all the time, I was ready to sit in one spot for months at a time. I know Luke loves to tour and he’s having fun with it.”

Though Shelton mentioned Luke Bryan as a potential replacement for himself, Shelton made it pretty obvious that he enjoys being a part of the judging panel on The Voice, and he didn’t sound like he’s interested in leaving The Voice anytime soon. In fact, in the same Associated Press article, Shelton went on to say that he enjoys the connections he makes while mentoring contestants from The Voice.

Looking at the tour schedule of his wife, Miranda Lambert, it’s obvious that Shelton is sincere when he says he wants his mentorees from The Voice to succeed in the music industry. A number of his former team members have appeared on Lambert’s tour, with this year’s tour including former Voice contestant Danielle Bradberry.
