The 2013 Chicago Auto Show kicked off this weekend at McCormick Place in the Windy City.

The Chicago show didn’t feature many unveiling ( Detroit took most of the glory this year ) but there were quite a few interesting sights at the show along Lake Michigan. Hyundai unveiled its prototype Zombie survival vehicle, Chevy’s Corvette Stingray drew in big crowds, and life-sized Hot Wheels allowed grown man to live out childhood fantasies.

Sure, the Zombie survival car isn’t much of a concept, the 2014 Chevy Corvette Stingray was already unveiled in Detroit, and the Hot Wheels Camaro made its first appearance in Las Vegas, but Chicago still had a few surprises.

The New York Times points to the 2014 Chevrolet Cruze Clean Turbo Diesel, the Kia Cross GT Concept, and the 2014 Toyota Tundra as some of the new or redesigned cars that were showcased at McCormick Place.

The Chicago Auto Show didn’t feature any major unveiling but the showroom floor did give a clear indication of where the auto industry was headed. Green, fuel efficient cars were put on display by several manufactures

Chicago Area Clean Cities Vice Chair John Walton told the Daily Herald :

“I remember when the hybrid was a concept vehicle and people were thinking, ‘This is nuts — who’s going to buy one of those?’ Now, automakers offer the public choices from the lower-cost, minimalist models to luxury sedans, SUVs and even pickup trucks.”

Here are some photos from the 2013 Chicago Auto Show.
