AnnaSophia Robb Will Play Carrie in ‘Sex in the City’ Prequel

The hit HBO show “Sex and the City” has already been made into a couple of movies and now the series will be reinvented once again in the new CW series “The Carrie Diaries.” AnnaSophia Robb has been cast as the title character in the new “Sex and the City” prequel.

Robb tweeted:

“So excited for #carriediaries!… It was online before I even knew hahahaha oh technology.”

People Magazine reports that the new show will focus on Carrie’s life long before she was a sex columnist. The CW has ordered a pilot of “The Carrie Diaries” which will take place in Manhattan during the 1980s while Carrie was in high school.

The new pilot will feature a young Carrie, but it doesn’t look like Charlotte, Samantha, or Miranda will be joining the cast. At least not yet. AnnSophia Robb will start her journey as the “Sex and the City” star with Katie Findlay and Ellen Wong as her two high school friends, but they won’t be playing younger versions of the original cast.

Stefania Owen, from Running Wilde, will also star in the new show as Carrie’s little sister Dorritt.
