Peaches Geldof Remembered On The One-Year Anniversary Of Her Death

Tuesday, April 7, marked the one-year anniversary of Peaches Geldof’s untimely death.

Fifi Geldof, Peaches’ sister, paid tribute to her in a touching Instagram post. Fifi shared an adorable photo of the girls as children and captioned it by saying, “A butterfly lights beside us and for a brief moment all of her beauty and glory belong to this world…But then she flies on again and although we wish she would have stayed, we feel lucky to have seen her at all.”

“One year ago today and I miss you with all of my being,” she added, according to E! News.

Fifi posted the same photo last month on Peaches birthday. “Thinking of her on her 26th birthday. Love you, wherever you are,” she captioned the photo.

The 25-year-old model and mother of two was found dead in her Kent home last year following a suspected heroin overdose. The official cause of death, ruled by the coroner, was opiate intoxication. Geldof had been taking the heroin substitute methadone for nearly three years prior to her death. However, she had recently started taking heroin again, and 6.9 grams were found in her home, according to Express.

“We are beyond pain. She was the wildest, funniest, cleverest, wittiest and the most bonkers of all of us. Writing ‘was’ destroys me afresh,” Peaches’ father Bob Geldof said at the time. “What a beautiful child. How is this possible that we will not see her again? How is that bearable? We loved her and will cherish her forever. How sad that sentence is. Tom and her sons Astala and Phaedra will always belong in our family, fractured so often, but never broken.”

Geldof’s husband also released a statement following her death.

“My beloved wife Peaches was adored by myself and her two sons Astala and Phaedra and I shall bring them up with their mother in their hearts everyday. We shall love her forever.”

Police do not believe that Peaches intended on taking her own life, and said she was reported as being a very happy mother and friend.

“There is no indication that Peaches intended to take her own life or harm herself in any way as she was reported to be of happy disposition and planning for the future with friends and family.”

Peaches is survived by her husband; two sons, Phaedra and Astala; her father; her sisters Fifi Trixibelle and Pixie; and younger half-sister, Tiger Lily Hutchence Geldof.
