Think that Gal Gadot is too skinny to play Wonder Woman? The former supermodel turned actress is scoffing at the notion that she’s not meaty enough to take on the superhero role, reported StarPulse.
Directed by Zack Snyder, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, also stars Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, and Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor. In addition, Gal will co-star with Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, and Jeremy Irons in the movie, which opens on March 25, 2016.
Those who want a replacement for Wonder Woman contend that Gadot needs more curves, she explained. But the former winner of the Miss Israel pageant takes the skinny-shaming in stride.
“They said that I was too skinny and my boobs were too small … They said my head was too big and my body was like a broomstick. It’s just empty talk. I can understand that part of what I’m doing means being exposed. And part of being exposed is being under fire.”
However, Gal is accustomed to being under fire after serving as a soldier in the Israel Defense Forces. And she points out that Wonder Woman herself is tough enough to inspire Gadot.
“She has unbelievable endurance. She is exceptionally strong. She can jump really high and practically fly. She know tons of martial arts styles. She is a strong and serious woman.”
In addition, as the Inquisitr reported, Gal has found motivation to conquer any nerves from Beyonce’s music. When she was getting ready to audition for the role, she felt extremely anxious during the waiting period.
“When I got there they put me in a trailer and after all the hair and makeup I had to wait a few hours. Waiting is auditioner’s biggest enemy. I called [my husband] Yaron and told him I didn’t know what to do. I couldn’t calm down. He told me ‘Gal, put on Beyonce. Move around. Don’t sit there frozen.’ I put on Diva and started dancing. Just when the song ended, I was all flushed, there was knock on the door calling me in.”
And now that she’s won the role, Gal is developing her own physical toughness through a fitness and diet regime worthy of a superhero, reported E News.
“I just keep active—everything that’s challenging me, everything that I feel like doing,” she explained.
That means going beyond taking exercise classes such as Pilates. Instead, Gadot immerses herself in action-packed sports activities.
“It’s not like I’m only TRX or Pilates. I do sports [where] everything’s working your whole body,” Gal revealed. “I do cardio, but I don’t like it as much. I’d rather do weights.”
As for her diet regime, Gadot focuses on healthy food choices with an occasional indulgence.
“I try to eat healthy. But sometimes though, I eat cheeseburgers. That’s good for the soul. I make sure to balance everything out. I drink tons of water.”
