In Palm Bay, Florida, police allege a 33-year-old mother named Jessica McCarty may have stabbed three children in an apparent murder-suicide. When cops arrived on the scene, she was holding a butcher knife and may have cut her own wrists.
In a related report by the Inquisitr, after a pregnant woman was stabbed, the so-called Craiglist killer removed her unborn baby, but prosecutors say it’s possible the suspect may not be charged with murder due to complications related to abortion laws.
The Palm Bay stabbing involved one girl and two young boys, and all three were found unresponsive with serious injuries. The little seven-year-old girl has been identified as Lacy McCarty, and the other two children as Philip McCarty, six, and five-month-old Christopher Swift.
According to WFTV, Chief Mark Renkens of the Palm Bay Police Department says, “The information that we received over 911 was that the lady had either injured or killed her children…. Officers immediately found the children in the house and outside the house. They immediately began CPR.”
There were two 911 calls, including an alarm from the father of Swift. It’s said he carried the baby boy outside and was attempting to administrate CPR when police officers arrived on scene. The two little boys have been flown to an Orlando hospital due to the serious nature of their stab wounds. When asked to describe the condition of the two wounded children, Martinez said, “They have a pulse.”
The police also confronted Jessica McCarty because she was seen outside the home wielding a butcher knife.
“She was in the front yard and she wasn’t showing her hand,” said police spokeswoman Yvonne Martinez, according to Florida Today. “She refused two or three times and then she showed the knife.”
When McCarty refused to drop the knife, police officers shot her with multiple “beanbag” rounds in order to subdue her. Detectives are waiting to interview her at the hospital, but it is believed the butcher knife may have been used to stab the children. McCarty is currently not under arrested at the hospital, but she is being “detained” until more information is known.
The Brevard County Clerk of Courts shows that Jessica McCarty was convicted in 2013 of acquiring a controlled substance. In the past, McCarty has violated parole and she also had a DUI reduced to reckless driving.
