Wolverine Joining The Avengers? After ‘Age Of Ultron’ Anything Is Possible

While promoting his new film Chappie, Hugh Jackman said there’s a possibility that his Wolverine character could join up with the Avengers in the distant future. With Avengers: Age of Ultron already set for a big box-office debut in May, movie creators are working on what’s next, even if it’s years down the road.

Hugh Jackman says he would love to join the Avengers as Wolverine. And he might have good reason to think it’s possible.

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Sony Pictures and Marvel made a deal to introduce Spiderman into the Avengers team at some point in the future. Andrew Garfield, who played Spiderman in the most recent reboot, is out, but no one has been tapped to take the place of the web-slinger.

Hugh Jackman, Optimistic About Wolverine Joining Avengers

Also from the Inquisitr, Dave Bautista, who played Drax in Guardians of the Galaxy, signed a contract agreeing to appear in a future Avengers movie – but that contract was far too late for Avengers: Age of Ultron.

So, if a Guardian and Spidey can sign up, why can’t an X-Man? Specifically, Wolverine.

According to Hugh Jackman, if this was two years ago that might seem unbelievable, but in an interview with Yahoo he showed a renewed optimism.

“You know, I think as an optimist I would love it. That’s the best thing about comic books; you can just pitch these characters into each other. I’m surprised by what’s happened with Spider-Man joining. You’re in a very complex world where big, big sums of money are being spent for different franchises and so getting them together is difficult. Two years ago I’d have said you’d be a real optimist to think it’d ever happen, but weirdly now I just think it maybe could. I think there is the possibility that it will happen.”

According to IGN, Jackman also speculated on an Avenger appearing in a Wolverine movie. He said that out of the whole team, Jackman would prefer to work with Robert Downey Jr., assuming he’s still playing Iron Man.

“I can’t think of him as anyone else. They are inseparable…. I would love to do that.”

Of course, there are already a host of movies nearly ready to debut, both from Hugh Jackman and Marvel.

Jackman is in the movie Chappie, which is now in theaters.

Avenger: Age of Ultron will hit theaters May 1 this year. And the next X-Men film, Apocalypse, will debut May 27th, 2016.
