Alleged Dez Bryant Video: ‘It’s Five Times Worse Than Ray Rice’

Dez Bryant’s world could be on the brink of collapse following rumors of an alleged video involving the Dallas Cowboys star receiver.

And while no video has ever surfaced, Heavy is reporting that a source who has seen the Dez Bryant video alleges it’s “five times worse than the Ray Rice video.”

Ray Rice was suspended from the NFL for the full 2014 season after a video surfaced from inside an Atlantic City casino in which the former Ravens running back punched out his fiancé, now wife, in an elevator. Since the video surfaced, Rice has been released from the Baltimore Ravens. Rice was reinstated by the league to resume his playing career in December, but many argue the footage will prevent him from landing with another team.

Rumors of a Dez Bryant video could result in a similar fate for the wide receiver, especially considering that he is up for free agency. Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk has mentioned that the alleged video is holding up Dez’s contract negotiations with the team according to CBS DFW.

“I don’t know if there’s any video that exists,” Florio said during an interview with 105.3 The Fan. “I’m just saying there is some chatter out there.”

Dez Bryant was headed into this offseason thinking he’d be a Cowboy for life. In fact, in a recent interview with FOX Sports Southwest, Jerry Jones expressed similar displeasure over the thought of franchising Bryant instead of producing a long term deal.

“I can tell you,” Jones said, “I’m not that excited about the franchise tag with Dez simply because I’d like to have our agreement and our business in place for a long time to come with Dez.”

The same report also indicated that at this time, no one from the Dallas Cowboys organization, including COO Stephen Jones, had seen the reputed video. Jerry Jones also said that any alleged video would not impact Bryant’s contract negotations. “Right now, as to our basic approach to all of the contracts that we’re considering negotiating, off-the-field issues are not a consideration in any situation with any player.”

But obviously, something is amiss or progress surely would have been made by now. Bryant is coming off a career year for the Dallas Cowboys and his play certainly warranted a long term deal by now. As reported by Inquistr, the notion of a franchise tag for Dez is something that isn’t sitting well with the all-star caliber wide out. He took to Twitter to voice his displeasure.

Dez Bryant also tweeted a cryptic response to the alleged video rumors, citing that he isn’t ashamed of his past.
