WWE News: Original Plans For Daniel Bryan And Roman Reigns At ‘Fast Lane’ Revealed

At the conclusion of the Royal Rumble, the WWE Universe was frustrated. They wanted nothing to do with Roman Reigns and his ascension to the top of the WWE. Luckily for WWE fans, Triple H and Vince McMahon listen to the WWE Universe and decided to shake things up a bit. To be fair, it wouldn’t be WrestleMania without a nixed plan or two.

Going into WWE’s new pay-per-view, Fast Lane, Daniel Bryan will face Roman Reigns. The winner of that match at Fast Lane will go on to face Brock Lesnar for the WWE World Heavyweight championship at WrestleMania 31. Bryan won the right to face Reigns at Fast Lane after defeating Seth Rollins on Monday Night Raw.

Those weren’t the original plans for Bryan and Reigns at Fast Lane. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Daniel Bryan and Roman Reigns were never supposed to face each other at Fast Lane.

“The original plan for the upcoming WWE Fast Lane pay-per-view main event was for Roman Reigns to defeat a top heel, possibly Big Show, and Bryan being used to put Bray Wyatt over to keep him strong for The Undertaker.

“The WWE marketing department is under the impression that Reigns vs. Lesnar will be the main event as of this week and in the promotional material, Reigns is to be the most heavily promoted, followed by Lesnar and John Cena.”

WWE’s first edition of Fast Lane will attract all WWE fans because of the lineup they accrued already. Sting will finally come face-to-face with Triple H, which will set up a match at WrestleMania 31. Bryan will likely lose to Reigns, which is where Dolph Ziggler fits into the equation. There’s a chance Ziggler could turn heel at Fast Lane, which would give the WWE fans the classic, “heel vs. face” matchup.

At first, Fast Lane didn’t seem it would live up to the expectations the Elimination Chamber always did. Since the WWE is going away from the Chamber match, they were hard-pressed to make the first-ever card one to remember. Bleacher Reportbelieves that unsung heroes will make Fast Lane very impactful.

What’s are everybody’s thoughts on WWE changing the roles of Daniel Bryan and Roman Reigns at Fast Lane? After the crowd reacted the way they did at the Royal Rumble, it’s looking like WWE made the proper move to highlight Bryan more than originally anticipated. Even if Reigns does prevail in a few weeks at Fast Lane, Bryan is more than likely going to move on and face Dolph Ziggler at WrestleMania 31. That’s one match that everybody will get behind.
