For anyone that has ever visited a McDonald's and gotten a Big Mac, you know one of the things that makes it stand out is that sauce. Yes, the Big Mac Sauce is one of life's greatest mysteries, and it is something that so many people have tried to duplicate at home. Now, you don't have to duplicate it at home as you can purchase your own bottle of Big Mac Sauce...for $18,000.
TIME has revealed that McDoanld's is auctioning off one 500ml bottle of its highly-coveted Big Mac Sauce on eBay, and the price has already shot up to an astronomical level.
As of Tuesday morning, the Big Mac Special Sauce auction was already up to AU $23,100.o0 or $18,000 in American money. There are 135 bids on it, and it may seem like a one-time thing, but the auction specifically states that this is "bottle #1 of 200."
The description of the eBay auction says that the Big Mac Sauce makes everything better.
"Leftovers… better!" "Steak… better!" "Your mum's amazing lasagne… better!" "Your boyfriend's gross lasagne… better!" "Chicken Caesar Salad… better!" "Hungarian Goulash… better!"
If you're not into spending that much money on a bottle of the secret sauce, you could be in luck. Well, you'll be in luck if you live in Australia or want to take a trip over there to get some of your very own.
According to Metro, McDonald's Australia will be selling 25ml tubs of Big Mac Sauce for just 50 cents each. This is happening at 920 of McDonald's stores, but again, it is only in Australia.
"Big Mac sauce is one of the most iconic McDonald's ingredients and people often ask us where they can buy it, so we're excited to be the first country in the world to offer tubs of Big Mac sauce to our customers," said McDonald's CMO Australia Mark Lollback.
There has been no word on if McDonald's will bring the sale of their Big Mac Sauce to the United States or United Kingdom or anywhere other than Australia. For now, that's where the auction for the big bottle is, and the sale of the smaller tubs is going on.
If you're a true fan of McDonald's and want Big Mac Sauce of your very own, it may be a lot cheaper to just get the burger it comes on.
