US Embassy In Thailand Tells Americans To Keep Low Profiles, Warns Of Terrorist Attacks

The US embassy in Thailand on Friday warned tourists in the region that a possible terrorist attack could be on the horizon.

In a statement released by the embassy officials warn that ‘’foreign terrorists may be currently looking to conduct attacks against tourist areas in Bangkok in the near future.’’

The warning then specifically warns American tourists about danger they may face, noting:

‘’US citizens are urged to exercise caution when visiting public areas where large groups of Western tourists gather in Bangkok.”

The embassy’s best suggestion is to “blend in” as best as possible and always be on the lookout when traveling through populated areas, especially those where international tourists tend to migrate.

As the embassy stated:

‘’We also encourage you to keep a low profile in public areas, particularly areas frequented by foreign tourists.”

While a terrorist threat is not guaranteed the agency monitors possible threat levels to create a decent assessment of danger to American lives.
