California Dad Sexually Assaulted, Tortured, And Murdered His Newborn Baby Girl, Police Say

California dad Matthew Warner sexually assaulted, tortured, and then murdered his 19-day old baby girl, police say. Warner reported his newborn baby missing from the home on Friday. Newhall law enforcement officers followed the California man, on probation for drug charges, to a pickup truck, where the dead infant was found.

Matthew Warner, 30, was initially charged with the assault, torture, and murder of the 19-day old baby girl, but on Wednesday the charges were amended to include the sexual assault of Ellorah Rose Warner, as well. Newhall police officers searched the home of the parents and found the baby in the pickup truck about 12 hours later. The name of the vehicle owner has not been released.

“No! It’s not even conceivable. Not him,” Warner’s mother, Victoria Law Thomson, told the media. Matthew Warner’s mother thought that he was off “speed” and clean and sober. “That’s why I don’t understand this,” the grieving grandmother said.

“He loved this little girl, adored her, and I don’t believe what I’m hearing. It’s just rumors. I just don’t want this viciousness to continue. Just, people back off, let the courts do what they’re supposed to do and not the public opinion.”

“The idea that a 3-week-old child should have to worry about defending herself against her 30-year-old father is abhorrent to me,” Nan Allison, Warner’s mother-in-law, said.

“He made a choice … to get high. He gave the appearance of adoring that child. It was not genuine.”

Warner showed no emotion at the court hearing, where he was charged with one count each of murder, assault on a child causing death, torture, oral copulation or sexual penetration with a child 10 years or younger, and aggravated sexual assault of a child, according to NBC Los Angeles.

Results from Ellorah Rose Warner’s autopsy are currently sealed. After the California prosecuting attorney added sexual assault charges to the counts levied against Warner, Judge David Walgren increased the dad’s bail to more than $2 million.

Matthew Warner, who is unemployed, is slated to appear for arraignment on February 18. If convicted of sexually assaulting, torturing, and murdering his 19-day-old daughter, Matthew Warner could be sentenced to life in prison.
