Meghan Trainor Receives Aussie Love with ‘Title’

America might not be “All About That Bass,” but the Australians sure are. Despite the unenthusiastic reception Megan Trainor’s debut album, Title, received in the states, Australia showed the pop star love by skyrocketing the album to No. 1 on the ARIA Albums Chart, Australia’s version of Billboard.

It’s no surprise the burgeoning celebrity received much love from Australia after the release of Title on January 9, 2015, as the debut was timed shortly after the singer’s smash performance on The X Factor. Produced by Kevin Kadish and backed by Epic Records, Meghan’s debut album didn’t receive the same support in America.

As reported by the Inquisitr, Trainor’s album gained embarrassing reviews in multiple publications, notably Time‘s Daniel D’Addario and his scathing observations. D’Addario’s review commented on Trainor’s “gloppy and saccharine” debut album, a sentiment Australian fans do not share.

Whether you side with D’Addario or Australia’s historically diverse taste in music, it’s difficult to deny the immense impact Meghan Trainor has had on the music industry in the past year. The official video for “All About That Bass” became a rapid success, sitting well above half a billion views since being published in 2014.

The singer, songwriter, and reportedly single producer isn’t letting the sudden fame get to her head, either. In an interview with RollingStone, Trainor talks confidently about becoming an overnight hit by commenting, “This is what I’m supposed to do.”

She also discussed her struggles with body image, self-esteem, and overall self-worth, citing improvements in her perception over time. Before Trainor’s unexpected launch into the public eye, she states, “I was so insecure, and I hated myself.” However, now that her career is beginning to soar, she reports feeling more confident, as evidenced by her upbeat single.

The next single from Title,“Lips Are Moving,” reinforces Trainor’s unwillingness to settle for anything less than deserved. But, that hasn’t stopped the pop star from receiving much-needed love advice. Recently discussed in the Inquisitr, Meghan Trainor spoke with pop icon Jennifer Lopez on the subject, who recommended scrutinizing judgment.

Lopez’s time-tested advice comes after three highly publicized marriages that failed to thrive, but doesn’t appear to discourage the blossoming singer and pop star who still appears to be on the hunt for someone special. Despite her packed schedule, Meghan Trainor admits to multiple sources that she’s single and ready to mingle, but after her upcoming Australian tour set to launch April 2015.
