Ian Somerhalder Engaged: Is Nina Dobrev ‘Devastated’ That Her Ex Is Getting Married?

Ian Somerhalder is engaged to Nikki Reed after a few months of dating, and that leaves many people wondering how his ex, Nina Dobrev, feels. Of course, the media wants to make this out to be a huge upset with Nina crying everyday and worrying about “the one that got away,” but that’s not the case at all, according to Gossip Cop. While Ian and Nina dated for a long time, the two decided that they were better off as friends.

“Dobrev works and remains friendly with Somerhalder. She’s known for months that he’s gotten serious with Reed, with whom she’s also friendly. His engagement was neither a shock nor anything that devastated her,” Gossip Cop reports.

Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed have been friends for quite some time, and so have Nikki and Nina. Despite reports that Nina is going to “quit” The Vampire Diaries because of her ex’s decision to move on with someone else (thanks Celeb Dirty Laundry), the truth is that Nina is happy for her ex, and she will probably even attend the couple’s wedding.

As for why Ian and Nina broke things off after dating for a few years, sources say that the two just weren’t on the same page. Ian was really ready to settle down and have a family, but Nina is young, and still wants to enjoy life without strings. Ian is 36 and has never been married, while Nikki Reed was married to American Idol alum Paul McDonald. Nina is also 26, but when she was with Ian, she was in her early 20s, and many believe that she just wanted to have fun, and not think about marriage and kids. Of course, there could have been a multitude of reasons that beloved “Nian” didn’t work out, but everything happens for a reason.

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Ian and Nikki might be getting married this summer. Sources say that the two don’t really want to wait to tie the knot, and that they are already looking at dates in June.

Ian and Nikki started dating last summer, more than a year after he ended things with Nina. His relationship with Nikki really took off, and the two seemed to be very much in love right from the start.
