RetailMeNot Partners Up With OnStar To Drive Revenue

RetailMeNot has recently struck a deal with OnStar LLC to have its app in General Motors Vehicles. The online coupon dealer is hoping that this decision will help generate revenue for the company. The financial terms of the agreement between RetailMeNot and OnStar haven’t been announced yet.

The Austin-based RetailMeNot’s services will now become a part of OnStar’s AtYourService feature, according to the Austin Business Journal. OnStar representatives will use the RetailMeNot app for helping drivers find deals at restaurants and stores in the area. This is a new feature to their standard services, which include OnStar assistance and unlocking car doors remotely.

It’s no surprise that RetailMeNot wants to partner up with the service. OnStar currently has more than 6 million subscribers in North America, according to MarketWatch. This system provides safety, security and mobility solutions in an advanced technology format. OnStar’s services also include turn-by-turn navigation, stolen key assistance, vehicle diagnostics, automatic crash response and hands-free dialing.

Integrating RetailMeNot’s app will allow OnStar customers to find deals at nearby stores and restaurants quickly, especially when they ask for directions.

Senior vice president of corporate development at RetailMeNot, Inc., Stephen Pho, exclaimed his excited about the deal with OnStar.

“This is an incredible opportunity to give the RetailMeNot brand more exposure with millions of OnStar customers. Furthermore, integration of offers powered by RetailMeNot into OnStar AtYourService will deepen our relationship with mobile shoppers and help area retailers and restaurants benefit from another channel of traffic and sales from high-value shoppers.”

Mark Lloyd, Consumer Online Officer for OnStar, sees nothing but great things about their newest venture with RetailMeNot.

“On the heels of our 4G LTE connectivity launch last year, OnStar is rolling out powerful, simple ways to bring daily-relevant, connected vehicle features like AtYourService to complement our foundation of safety and security technology. While establishing this new platform lays the groundwork, having great merchant relationships, like those powered by RetailMeNot, is what makes AtYourService truly valuable to our customers.”

The first phase of the partnership will be revealed at the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show at the Chevrolet booth. RetailMeNot will integrate special offers into the demonstration of Chevrolet’s cars connected with the OnStar 4G LTE technology at its booth. The unveiling is expected to take place at the Las Vegas Convention in North Hall at Booth No. 2831, according to the MarketWatch report.

OnStar customers will already have access to this added feature in Chevrolet, Cadillac, GMC and Buick vehicles. The announcement didn’t include how many OnStar subscribers would have access to this new RetailMeNot feature.
