Extreme Makeover: Home Edition Cancelled By ABC


Ty Pennington and his team of makeover experts will air their final episodes of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition on Jan. 13 after nine seasons at ABC.

According to the network the final show in two parts which will air on Jan. 6 and Jan. 13.

A huge hit when it first started airing on Sunday nights the show was a spin-off from the already cancelled plastic-surgery show Extreme Makeover.

In 2005 the show saw it’s largest viewership with more than 20 million watchers however over the years those ratings have dwindled with current shows fetching just four to five million viewers across all demographics.

Rounding out it’s 200 episodes the show will feature seven families who were devastated when the Joplin, Mo. tornado wiped out their homes and most of their belongings.

For fans of the show it’s not a final farewell, ABC says Ty Pennington and his crew are still expected to return for occasional specials although plans for those future shows have not yet been revealed.
