Co-Sleeping Video Viral: Shocking Time Lapse Video Reveals Dangers Of Co-Sleeping (Video)

Parents love spending time with their newborn babies. Most parents don’t ever want to waste a moment of precious time with their little bundle of joy. However, there’s one time of day where babies should be alone – bedtime. Although many parents support the practice of co-sleeping, the Safe To Sleep campaign stresses how it can actually be a potentially dangerous situation.

According to SIDS.org, Sudden Unexpected Infant Death (SUID) is unfortunately the leading cause of death in babies ranging from one month to one year of age. However, most cases occur in smaller babies between the age of two to four months of age.

There are about 4,000 sudden infant deaths a year in the US. About ½ of these are diagnosed as SIDS or unexplained and the other ½ are diagnosed as due to other causes.

While many parents have argued that co-sleeping is not necessarily a bad thing, a controversial time-lapsed YouTube video reportedly shows how the practice can be potentially fatal. The one-minute video shows exactly how much a person moves throughout the night and how such actions can be potentially harmful to a small child. In the video, the woman tosses and turns continuously throughout the course of the night. It also shows three simple tips that can reduce the possibilities of SUID:

A. Babies need to sleep Alone.

B. Babies need to sleep on their Back.

C. Babies need to sleep in their own Crib.

Although the footage shows the constant tossing and turning, many argue the woman in the video does so simply because she is in bed alone. Many viewers actually disagree with the controversial perspective of co-sleeping. However, there were some viewers who do oppose the practice of co-sleeping.

Here’s what they have to say:

“Total B.S. A mother is unconsciously aware of her baby when sleeping. My wife has stiff-armed me more than once in her sleep when she thought I was getting too close to her baby in the bed,” one viewer said.

When I have my children in bed with me, I fall asleep and wake up in the exact same position I fell asleep in,” another viewer agreed.

“As most of my 31 years in nursing was spent in the ER and trauma bay I have seen everything you mentioned with the exception of polio. I have seen 5 babies die from sleeping like this. I have seen many crib deaths, Odds are if those 5 babies had not been sleeping in moms or dads bed, they would have lived. It’s not a gamble I would advise anyone to bet on,” one viewer argued.
