George Lopez: ‘Not All Latinos Are Housekeepers,’ Comedian Angry By Hotel Employee’s Racist Comment

George Lopez wants you to know that not all Latinos are housekeepers, and that people should keep their racist comments to themselves, according to TMZ’s report. The comedian was insulted recently when a hotel employee didn’t recognize him and mistook him for hotel housekeeping. He didn’t say so, but Lopez most likely has no plans to stay at that hotel in the future, and believes that other Latinos should stay away.

Complex reported earlier this month that George Lopez was a guest at the Dream Hotel, a lavish New York City hotel known for its beautiful lighting, stylish rooms, and prestigious clientele. But according to Lopez, he felt lower than a heel after a knock at the door left him with a bad taste in his mouth and a brutal lasting impression of the fine hotel.

George Lopez describes how the event unfolded.

“I got a Dolce & Gabbana suit and $3,000 shoes, but the struggle will still continue. Today at the Dream Hotel in room 440, George Lopez had a Prada suit and sport coat, $10,000, delivered to me personally… I open the door, he gave me the suit and said, ‘You scared me. I thought you were housekeeping.'”

The TMZ team caught up with George Lopez after the incident. Here is how he responded.

“I’m incognito man, so nobody thinks I’m a housekeeper, anymore. There’s a list of things that I might not be confused for, being sensitive, being a personal trainer, stock market guy, but housekeeper was a little bit insulting to tell you the truth.”

Lopez did not excuse the Dream Hotel employee’s stupidity, and felt that the employee should have recognized him, later adding that everybody “should have cable.” George Lopez did not receive an apology from the hotel, and insists that there are better places to stay if one is a Latino with any ounce of self respect. The name of the Dream Hotel-NYC employee was not released.

Many are surprised that George Lopez was offended, since he has often been accused of telling racist jokes and reinforcing those same stereotypes of Hispanics and Latinos. Regarding the controversial comedian’s jokes, two commenters state the following.

“Just made a joke about Kim Kardashin and dating black people. Then he goes “I smell grape soda…. oh over there() this isn’t the first time I heard him making black jokes.”

“Nobody cares about his jokes. he sucks anyway.”
