Students in Gwinnett County witnessed a son stabbing his father to death on the front lawn. CBS News reports that the stabbing was taking place just as the school bus was dropping off students Wednesday afternoon.
After 19-year-old David Trent Walker stabbed his father, David Walker, 46, witnesses say they saw the son just standing over his body. Gwinnett County police received a call reporting the incident and rushed to the scene of the crime in Hoschton, arriving around 2:30 p.m.
The father was immediately sent to the hospital but died from the injuries he sustained from his own son.
Tina Lineberry, a witness, told Live 5 News, “They were coming down to get off the bus and everything was going down and all the kids saw what happened that were on the bus.”
One of the students, Stacia Dorn, attends Millcreek High School with Walker’s younger brother, who plays on the school football team. Dorn tells Live 5 News about what she witnessed as she dropping off a friend from school.
“Once I got down to the street down there, I saw the guy lying in the road and I wasn’t sure who it was. It is pretty hard to know I had to see him (the father) lying there and that I have to know that my friend is having to go through that. I feel really bad for him.”
The son was still at the scene of the crime where he murdered his dad when Gwinnett County police arrived. David Trent Walker was arrested, charged with murder and now sits in the Gwinnett County jail with no bond.
David Trent Walker appeared in court before a judge on Thursday where he told the judge he did not want a court-appointed attorney, as reported by CBS 46 News. The family revealed that they are “distraught after the incident, but are doing well considering what happened.”
Gwinnett County Police Department spokesman Cpl. Jake Smith reports that there are no other suspects in the case and that it appears to be a domestic incident. Both son and father lived in the home where the murder took place, as reported by Live 5 News.
There has been no information released as to the motive behind the murder.
