Co-op confirmed for Mass Effect 3
After months of speculation, rumors, more speculation and more rumors, BioWare has confirmed that Mass Effect 3 will have multiplayer.. in the form of co-op.
Earlier today, OXM confirmed their next cover story, one that reveals – and details – Mass Effect 3‘s multiplayer for the first time. Similarly, a shot of Australian gaming magazine PC Power Play surfaced on the ‘nets, also revealing Mass Effect 3 multiplayer.
Shortly afterwards, BioWare confirmed over on Twitter that Mass Effect 3 would have some form of multiplayer – and shortly after that, BioWare’s Casey Hudson confirmed that Mass Effect 3 would have co-op.
“Yes, co-op MP missions for #ME3: they’re real, and they’re spectacular. Rest assured it’s nothing of what you’ve feared. More soon…” said Hudson.
Hudson’s statement suggests that the to-be-detailed multiplayer mode will be the aforementioned co-op, but it isn’t known at this point if Mass Effect 3 will have any other form of multiplayer. For that, we’ll have to wait until OXM and PC Power Play spill the beans.
I wasn’t too keen on the idea of a competitive multiplayer mode, but I’d be totally down for some co-op – in fact, I’m surprised that BioWare hasn’t already gotten around to including it in any of the previous Mass Effect titles.
Would you want to see a competitive multiplayer mode in Mass Effect 3, or is co-op enough for you?
