Lana Del Rey fans in Europe are probably a little disappointed right about now. The songstress recently canceled the remainder of her tour in the region.
Although the “Video Games” singer was originally slated to perform a handful of shows in Europe this month, an undisclosed medical condition has forced Lana to scrape these plans. Unfortunately, more details about her health are few and far between.
According to MTV UK, Lana Del Rey’s handlers broke the bad news to fans through an official statement. The release cited the singer’s health as the reason for the cancellation, but it didn’t put a finer point on her condition.
“For medical reasons independent of our will, the artist has been forced to cancel all promotional activities planned in Europe over the coming days,” the folks over at Polydor/Universal Music recently explained.
Wetpaint reports that Lana Del Rey also had to scrap her scheduled BBC Radio 1 Lounge performance due to these undisclosed health issues. However, Radio 1 is hoping to lure the American singer back across the pond at some point in the near future.
Unfortunately for Lana, Virgin Radio isn’t as sympathetic. Since Del Rey was originally slated to perform two private shows for the station’s listeners in Paris, they’re not exactly thrilled about the cancellation. To accurately display their irritation, the powers that be at Virgin Radio are removing her songs from their playlist until further notice.
“[Virgin Radio] disapproves of this total lack of respect for the fans and is removing Lana Del Rey from its playlist,” the station said in a statement. Ouch.
For the moment, Lana Del Rey has a few Stateside shows listed on her official website. Fans in the United States still have a few opportunities to catch her onstage before the year wraps up. Unfortunately for fans in Europe, there’s a strong possibility she won’t return to their neck of the woods in 2014. Of course, that’s still very much up in the air.
Here are the dates left on her itinerary at the moment.
October 4 — Austin City Limits Music Festival, Texas
October 6 & October 7 — Auditorio Nacional, Mexico City, Mexico
October 9 — Foro Live, Monterrey, Mexico
October 11 — Austin City Limits Music Festival, Texas
What do you think about Lana Del Rey canceling the rest of her shows in Europe? Are you surprised Virgin Radio dropped the singer from its playlist?
