Poor Cellphone Reception Causes Thousands Of People To Relocate Annually

You may not quite believe the headline, but according to a recent survey carried out on 2,027 British adults, poor cellphone reception is one of the main reasons people move house in the U.K.

On top of that interesting fact, having the ability to send and receive text messages is more important to most homeowners than feeling safe in the area in which they live or being close to friends when choosing a house.

The main reason that people move, the survey revealed, is due to lack of space, while over 35 percent of people polled said they moved house due to being unhappy where they lived.

An unsurprising statistic from the survey, carried out by real estate agents Slater & Gordon, was that at least one in four people want to move home but simply can’t afford to relocate.

Then again, due to the anxiety involved in moving home, over a quarter of the people polled said they were put off the whole idea of moving home completely due to stress.

Interestingly, women were found to be more unhappy with their accommodation than men, and almost half said they can think of nothing worse than to live in the same place for the rest of their lives.

Samantha Blackburn, property lawyer at Slater & Gordon, told reporters that a lot of people are displeased with their living situation.

“They say an Englishman’s home is his castle and it’s sad to see that so many people are unhappy with their home. But it’s good to see that people are actively looking for a home that will make them happier and tick all the boxes for them and their family. We find the majority of our clients worry about the stress of moving but some short term anxiety is normally worth being in a home that makes you happy.”

Forty percent of people claimed to be seeking homes with bigger gardens, while just 16 percent said their reason for moving was due to being located too far away from family.

Blackburn added, “Moving home is a big decision and not one to be taken lightly but this research shows that the dream of owning a ‘perfect home’ is still alive despite the fact that house prices are still on the increase. It is stressful but we try and make the process as simple as possible and there are plenty of things you can do to make the legal aspects of it drama free but looking at this research finding your dream home may be more time consuming that people think.”
