Kelly Clarkson Feeling Nostalgic In Recent Twitter Post

Kelly Clarkson was feeling nostalgic yesterday when she took to Twitter to reminisce about her American Idol win from 12 years ago.

For many, it can be hard to believe that it’s already been 12 years since Kelly Clarkson stole the hearts of millions and won the first season of the hit show, American Idol. Us Weekly took fans back in time as they told the story of a 20-year-old cocktail waitress from Burleson, Texas, who’s life changed when she took first place on American Idol in 2002.

Clarkson took to her Twitter account on Thursday to reminisce as it was the 12-year anniversary of her win.

Some fans found it surprising that Kelly would reminisce about her American Idol winning considering she is known for wanting to distance herself from the show that started her successful career. While the show has been known to produce some great talent, even the producers claimed that the show isn’t what it used to be.

“I do think if I have a criticism of the show for us last year, it’s that we haven’t found a group of kids that have captured the imagination of the public. They’ve been really talented kids. But for whatever reason, there hasn’t been that sort of catalyst behind the show,” said Fox Networks chairman and CEO Peter Rice in July.

Kelly has been in an overall good mood since the birth of her first child. She made her first public appearance since the birth of her baby girl, River Rose Blackstock, in a recent video posted to her social media accounts in response to the wildly popular ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.

In the video, both Kelly Clarkson and husband Brandon Blackstock accepted the challenge and doused themselves in buckets of ice and freezing cold water. Before finally throwing the bucket over her head, Kelly took a few minutes to express how nervous she was to do the challenge.

“I was nominated by a ton of mean people to do the ALS ice bucket challenge and we’ve been trying to do it but we’re just really nervous about it. I hope I can lift the bucket because it’s really heavy!”
