Rapper Nicki Minaj might be bringing a miniature "Monster" into the world in the next few months. A new report says the "Anaconda" rapper is pregnant, and she might be jumping the broom in the near future.
For the uninitiated, "jumping the broom" is an old school African-American idiom for getting married, and it looks like that's what Nicki Minaj is getting ready to do, if a new report from MediaTakeOut is to be believed. The "Anaconda" rapper is reportedly pregnant by her longtime boyfriend Safaree. MTO says the news is a happy affair.
Citing a "TOP Young Money snitch," MTO preemptively pushed back against any naysayers. "This ain't rumor either y'all... it's FACTS!!!"
Reportedly, Minaj and Safaree, are "extremely happy" with the news. The couple may marry in the fall, before their child is born. The two have been together for 15 years.
MediaTakeOut doesn't exactly have a flawless record when it comes to reporting "urban" celebrity news. Even prior to the Nicki Minaj story, though, the site was reporting that Beyonce was expecting a second child. Now, other celebrity news outlets are parroting that story, so there might be some fire behind the Nicki Minaj smoke.
Of course, if Nicki Minaj were pregnant and expecting this fall, she certainly hasn't been showing. The rapper performed – and narrowly avoided a wardrobe malfunction – at the MTV Video Music Awards earlier this week, and there seemed to be no evidence of a pregnancy. Likewise with the presumably recently shot "Anaconda" video, which features Nicki in varying states of undress: no baby bump visible there either. If she is pregnant, it's hard to tell from her recent appearances.
Still, Nicki could just be queen supreme of hiding a pregnancy. Babies are big in hip-hop now, what with Beyonce reportedly ready to pop out another kid to keep young Blue Ivy company. There's already, of course, Kanye and Kim's North West, and Wiz Khalifa and Amber Rose have had a child as well. That's totally a thing, right? Three hip-hop couples with kids would be a trend, yeah? We're gonna say it's a trend.
In any case, there is of course no confirmation from Nicki Minaj that she's expecting. Of course, she hasn't denied it either, so let speculation reign! Meanwhile, Drake reacted to the news.
Just kidding. That clip, of course, is from Nicki's record-setting video for "Anaconda," off her forthcoming album, The Pinkprint.
