The tensions between Israel and Palestine-controlled Gaza has spilled over to the rest of the world in which multiple protests have been reported in favor of the Hamas. This includes one in London against the Israeli Embassy, another in Chicago, and a projection on the United Kingdom Parliament. Now, the New York Police Department are hunting a group of Palestinian, flag-waving men responsible for attacking a Jewish couple on the Manhattan streets.
According to an article by ABC, the NYPD are investigating a crime against a married couple on Monday night, which happened just outside their Upper East Side apartment building. Investigators say the victims were accosted by a gang of five to eight men waving Palestinian flags from two care at 245 East 63rd Street around 8 p.m.
The vehicles came closer to the couple with the men inside shouting anti-Semitic profanities while throwing water bottles at the couple. One of the bottles struck the 26-year-old wife in the fact. Fortunately, she wasn’t injured. As for the 27-year-old husband, he got into a verbal dispute with the occupants of one of the vehicles which resulted in one of the men to get out of the car and strike the husband on the side of the head causing an abrasion to the husband’s left ear.
The Blaze followed up on the report with more details about the situation. From what the NYPD does know, the men drove in a white Cadillac Escalade with New York license plates and a white Nissan Altima with Florida plates. The NYPD also said they may have the licence plate numbers of the cars. The five to eight suspects are believed to be males in their 20s with Middle Eastern descent.
Also, the husband of the couple made a statement believing the group attacked him when they saw him wearing a yarmulke, the skullcap worn by Jewish men and boys, especially those who adhere to Orthodox or Conservative Judaism. Because of this belief, the NYPD is investigating this situation as a possible bias crime by the hate crimes task force.
