Jennifer Aniston was reportedly left waiting at the altar after Justin Theroux hit the brakes during a secret ceremony in Mexico this month.
The couple has been engaged for the past two years and faced near endless speculation about when they could actually be getting married. But a new report from Life & Style Magazine indicates that the couple nearly did walk the aisle in July, but a blowout fight brought an end to the ceremony.
The report claims that Jen and Justin had a huge fight just hours before the ceremony was supposed to start after she learned about a big secret he had been keeping. There was no word on just what the secret might be.
If there are problems with Jen and Justin, they’re apparently doing a good job covering them up. Justin was spotted paying a visit to Jennifer Monday at a hair-salon themed photo shoot.
In the past, Justin has also spoken out against the way tabloid publications have fabricated stories about their relationship.
“I can’t get over how terrible the narrative is, just how poorly written it is,” he said in Elle ‘s August 2014 issue. “It’s worse than a telenovela. It’s so dramatic. Like, ‘They’re broken up, they’re together, they’re storming out, storming in, rushing out, rushing in.’ They make every celebrity look like a schizophrenic.”
Justin has also noted that his relationship has thrust him into a new level of fame.
“My life changed a lot. More people are like, ‘Hey, man!’ And I don’t think that’s from my role in John Adams . But it only changed as much as I engaged with it, and I learned very quickly: Don’t ever engage with it. Just JKL. It was a learning curve, but it wasn’t as traumatic as you might expect. It’s just annoying. Occasionally you’ll get a stewardess congratulating you, on, I don’t know, whatever, some three-headed baby we just had.”
If the breakup rumors are true, Jennifer Aniston could be out a good chunk of money for the wedding. The beachside ceremony was reportedly very expensive, with Radar Online pointing out that Jen’s Malibu wedding to Brad Pitt 14 years ago cost a reported $1 million . A wedding outside the United States is much more expensive, the publication noted.
