Bobby Brown just couldn’t keep up with his New Edition compatriots, so he has gone home.
Just about in the middle of the grown-up boy band’s new tour, the All 6 Tour, Brown has excused himself from the tour because of the aftereffects of an unspecified “intrusive medical procedure,” reports the International Business Times website.
“I apologize to the fans of New Edition,” the singer said in a statement. “I really wanted to be with my brothers, but presently I am unable to give the fans what they typically expect from New Edition.”
A spokeswoman for the R&B group said group members Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins, Ronnie DeVoe, Johnny Gill, and Ralph Tresvant wish the 45-year-old singer a speedy recovery. No other details were provided.
“At this time, Bobby needs to put his health first, and we wish him a speedy recovery,” said the statement. “We are giving each and every show all we’ve got until his return — and will continue giving the fans 110 percent each night,” reports the CBS Dallas/Fort Worth website.
Bystanders and audiences have noticed Brown failing to keep up with his bandmates during a number of synchronized dance routines, with the singer appearing to struggle to catch his breath as his fellow New Edition members continue with the show. He was even filmed briefly walking off stage during their gig in Southaven, Mississippi last week, and now the singer’s representative has revealed the medical procedure Brown underwent as the reason for these issues, reports Cleveland 5 website. Brown is now under a doctor’s care.
Brown, who has spent many years recovering from his hard-partying past ways, is currently trying to rebuild his fractured family past, as well. He recently reunited with his daughter from his marriage with the late Whitney Houston, Bobbi Kristina. She posted pictures of her Father’s Day reunion with Brown on her Instagram account.
The All 6 Tour will wrap up on August 3 in Los Angeles. There is no indication given by Brown or New Edition if Brown will rejoin the tour if his health improves.
