‘Finding Bigfoot’ In New Jersey, Headed To Alaska

He’s big, hairy, and if he’s hiding in the woods of New Jersey, the team from Animal Planet’s Finding Bigfoot are out to catch a glimpse of the beast known as Sasquatch.

The team from Finding Bigfoot scoured the mountainous terrain of Sussex County, New Jersey last week, according to The Daily Record. Though the episode won’t air until later in the year, possibly as late as December, the production came into town quietly, not wanting the wooded are of New Jersey to be inundated with fellow Bigfoot hunters. Word spread through the Bigfoot community however, and some 60 people gathered to listen as 14 people came forward with stories of Bigfoot sightings for the June 21st taping.

The Finding Bigfoot team, which consists of Matt Moneymaker, head of the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization (BFRO), scientist Ranae Holland, and field researchers Cliff Barackman and James “Bobo” Fey, are excited about the quality of stories they are uncovering, now that the hit Animal Planet show is in its fifth season. “These are the best stories we’ve had in years,” Fey said during the town hall meeting, a fixture of Finding Bigfoot episodes.

Researchers James “Bobo” Fey and Cliff Barackman are mainstays of Finding Bigfoot, which is searching for the hairy giant in areas as diverse as New Jersey and Alaska this season.

The trek to New Jersey was the second visit for the Finding Bigfoot cast and crew, after a previous excursion to the Pine Barrens area. The show won’t be staying on the Eastern Seaboard for long, however. According to Alaska’s News Miner, Finding Bigfoot has put out a call for witnesses and wilderness guides who are familiar with the interior of America’s northernmost state. Filming for Finding Bigfoot‘s Alaskan episode is slated for this summer in the area surrounding Fairbanks, so fans shouldn’t expect to see that jaunt until much later in the current season.

Bigfoot has been sighted in 49 out of 50 states, with Hawaii the sole exclusion. Although the creature has been dismissed as mythical by skeptics, believers cite a wealth of sightings and footprints left in wilderness areas as proof of Sasquatch’s existence. As The Inquisitr has previously reported, some researchers have even claimed to have DNA evidence pointing to the elusive primate’s existence. Finding Bigfoot, which is a major ratings draw for Animal Planet, follows the exploits of the four researchers as they search varied locales for evidence of the creature. The team engages in nighttime excursions, town hall meetings with witnesses, and re-enactments of Bigfoot encounters during each episode.

Though specific details of the New Jersey episode won’t be released until it airs later in the year, William Taylor, author of “Bigfoot in the New Jersey ‘Burbs” points out that during the last 50 years alone, there have been 207 sightings of Bigfoot in the state. With such a rich history of sightings to draw on, New Jersey will no doubt prove to be fertile ground for the Finding Bigfoot cast.
