Gwyneth Paltrow Still Not ‘Consciously Uncoupled’ From Chris Martin

Gwyneth Paltrow is still not “consciously uncoupled” from husband Chris Martin despite announcing last March that they had split.

The phrase she chose to use at the time to describe the separation was “conscious uncoupling.” Her use of those words has been much ridiculed, so perhaps its is only fair that we reproduce the statement in its entirety, and you can judge for yourself how you feel about it:

“It is with hearts full of sadness that we have decided to separate. We have been working hard for well over a year, some of it together, some of it separated, to see what might have been possible between us, and we have come to the conclusion that while we love each other very much we will remain separate.

We are, however, and always will be a family, and in many ways we are closer than we have ever been. We are parents first and foremost, to two incredibly wonderful children and we ask for their and our space and privacy to be respected at this difficult time.

We have always conducted our relationship privately, and we hope that as we consciously uncouple and coparent, we will be able to continue in the same manner.”

Now, some three months after those words were published, Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin are still living together in their California home.

E! News reported that a source had told them that Chris had yet to move out, and “they are both still living there and spending weekends together at their new house in Malibu.”

The unnamed source continued, “They both do a lot of business travel, and so there are times when one of them will have the house to themselves. But if they are both in town, they both stay there.”

As Gwyneth Paltrow, 41, announced in her statement, the couple intend to remain close friends for the benefit of their two children, Apple and Moses.

The source added, “They’ve tried to keep things as stable and consistent as possible for their kids. They spend a lot of time together as a family and haven’t changed things since they announced they were splitting up. Other than taking off their wedding bands, they seem closer than ever.”

Of course, the nature of their current relationship has given rise to the speculation that they may actually “consciously recouple” in the near future.

A friend of the pair told The Mirror,“Chris still lives with her, they are amazingly lovely-dovey together, and she still wears her wedding ring. They may have consciously uncoupled a few months ago — but they seem to be recoupling now. No one will be surprised if they get back together.”

Whatever happens, one thing is absolutely certain. In the future, it will be impossible to think about Gwyneth Paltrow without the words “consciously uncoupling” coming instantly to mind.
