Chris Hemsworth May Work With Frank Darabont On ‘Snow White 2’

Chris Hemsworth may get a chance to work with another award-winning writer in the very near future.

Although everyone immediately thinks of Thor whenever Hemsworth’s name pops up in conversation, the guy also starred in the popular fantasy flick Snow White and the Huntsman. Apparently the suits over at Universal Pictures are keen on getting the sequel in front of the camera very soon. Since Chris is contractually obligated to star in the follow-up, he’ll return to storybook world alongside Kristen Stewart.

While Hemsworth and his co-star will return for Snow White 2, director Rupert Sanders was reportedly dropped from the project due to his relationship with the Twilight alum. Sometimes it doesn’t pay to get frisky with the help.

“The script has already been written and production will begin late next year. However, Rupert Sanders definitely won’t be a part of the project. Rupert didn’t want to be a part of it to begin with because he is desperately still trying to save his marriage. The search is still on for a new director,” a source told the Daily Mail last year.

As such, Universal Pictures is looking for someone to take up the reins. This means that Chris Hemsworth and his co-stars could work alongside former Walking Dead showrunner Frank Darabont on the project. Although his name is getting kicked around as a possible replacement, he hasn’t officially signed on for the sequel as of this writing.

Not surprisingly, Darabont isn’t the only filmmaker on the short list for Snow White 2. According to ScienceFiction.com, Gavin O’Connor (Warrior) and Andy Muschietti (Mama) are also in talks for the project. As soon as we learn who ultimately takes control of the sequel, we’ll let you know.

Cinema Blend reports that Chris Hemsworth is set to begin filming on the follow-up as soon as he’s finished putting together The Avengers: Age of Ultron with Joss Whedon. Although Universal still has some time before their Snow White project jumps in front of the cameras, they might want to lock in a director as soon as possible.

If you still need more Chris Hemsworth in your life, then you’ll want to keep your eyes peeled for Thor 3. While that movie is still in the early stages of production, at least you can rest easy knowing that Marvel intends to move forward with the franchise. Do you think Frank Darabont is the right choice for Snow White and the Huntsman 2?
