Bret Michaels Suffers ‘Medical Emergency’ [Breaking]

4:00 Update

A representative for “Team Bret” took to the singer’s social media accounts shortly after the incident was reported earlier this evening to thank first responders who tended to Michaels:

According to an Associated Press report, Michaels, who rose to fame in the 80’s as the lead singer of heavy metal band Poison, was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes as a child. In 2010, Michaels competed on and won “Celebrity Apprentice,” in an effort to raise money for the American Diabetes Association.

Original Report

Poison singer Bret Michaels was rushed from the stage in New Hampshire tonight after suffering a “medical emergency,” Blabbermouth reports.

Pete Evick, the guitarist for Michael’s solo band, posted the following update, entitled “Breaking News: Message From Pete Evick Regarding Bret Michaels’ Medical Emergency,” to the singer’s Facebook page:

“This is a message I never imagined I’d have to post. Tonight in Manchester, NH 3 songs into the set Bret had me sing a song as he rushed off stage. In the 9 years I’ve stood next to him, I’ve never seen a look like the one on his face as if I was a complete stranger. One of the crew returned instantly to notify me that Bret’s blood sugar was extremely low.”

“He returned to the stage only to announce that he could not continue. As you all know he is a health fanatic and fiercely monitors his blood sugar, he basically had to be dragged off the stage in his sickest of conditions. When I rushed to the bus he could barley speak, but begged me to apologize to the fans and seemed only concerned for them.”

“As of now he is with paramedics being evaluated. We will keep you posted throughout the evening.”

The frightening moment is hardly the first health scare for Michaels. The singer has undergone an emergency appendectomy, heart surgery, and has suffered brain hemorrhaging in recent years. As The Inquisitr reported, Michaels suffered minor injuries last year in a tour bus crash.

According to lalate, the statement posted to Michael’s Facebook account was also posted to his Twitter feed:

The Inquisitr will update this story as more information on Bret Michael’s condition becomes available.
