Arnold Schwarzenegger: Terminator Genesis Script Is ‘Fantastic’, Shooting Begins In April

Arnold Schwarzenegger is back in the reboot Terminator Genesis and he says he is excited to be part of a “fantastic” script. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Terminator Genesis is scheduled to be released in July 2015 and Arnold is definitely a member of the cast. At this week’s Arnold Sports Festival? in Columbus, Ohio, Schwarzenegger spoke withthearnoldfans.com and revealed some exiting new details about Terminator Genesis.

The biggest questions surrounding the Terminator reboot have been about the cast. Because this movie will have to do with the origins of the Terminators, speculations were everywhere concerning the Sarah Connor character. It was confirmed recently that Emilia Clarke from Game Of Thrones would play the role of the destined resistance leader. Also cast alongside of Arnold Schwarzenegger for Terminator Genesis is Jason Clarke (who will play John Connor) and Jai Courtney. There have been rumors about Dwyane Johnson’s involvement, though they are not confirmed yet.

Director Alan Taylor, Thor: The Dark World, is directing the film. The script that Arnold Schwarzenegger called “fantastic” has involvement from Patrick Lussier, who worked on Drive Angry, and James Cameron. Shooting for Terminator Genesis begins in April 2014 and Schwarzenegger is very excited about getting involved in the series that pushed him into action movie legendary status.

“The Terminator. You’re right. We start filming in the middle or in the end of April and it will be a four or four-and-a-half month long shoot… And David Ellison, who has produced all the big movies lately, has plenty of money to do it well. He’s in partnership with Paramount Pictures who are going to release the movie through their distribution. I’m really looking forward to that and it’s going to come out on July 4th weekend in 2015. The movie preparation is going well. The script is fantastic so I’m really looking forward to this film.”

These latest updates to Arnold Schwarzenegger’s involvement in Terminator Genesis make the coming reboot real. The new trilogy will be a bridge between the original Terminator series and the Terminator Salvation starring Christian Bale. Even though Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Terminator had a surprise CGI appearance in the last movie, his role in the new trilogy is uncertain.

While Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines received mixed reviews from fans of the series, Salvation fared much better. One of the biggest challenges facing the new trilogy will be pulling off Sarah Connor. Linda Hamilton’s portrayal of the character will always be the standard bearer. Can Emilia Clarke play the dangerous, revolutionary version of Connor that will be required?

If Arnold Schwarzenegger is excited to be back on Terminator Genesis and the script, then so should the rest of us.
