Reality Shayne Lamas suffered a devastating miscarriage on Sunday. As she was experiencing internal bleeding, the 28-year-old actress had to have an emergency surgery. Although several news outlets reported she was in a coma and unable to breathe without assistance, her father has dispelled the rumors.
Lorenzo Lamas confirmed that his daughter did lose her unborn child. However, he said she is currently “conscious and stable.” Despite her devastating loss, she is recovering from the surgery. Lamas also said “Shayne is aware of her condition.”
Lamas said his daughter is surrounded by her family and they are all “grateful to the hospital personnel and the doctors who saved her life.” At the time of the emergency, Shane Lamas was 16-weeks pregnant with her second child.
As reported by Fox News , the actress will remain hospitalized for further treatment . However, she is expected to fully recover. Lamas’ husband Nik Richie said he will be taking some time off to help his wife through he recovery. He posted a statement about the incident on his blog, TheDirty.com:
“I love my wife and my family. Shayne is my good person. She is my support and my smile. I found you and I never want to let you go. We will overcome.”
Shayne Lamas is well known for her role as Carly Corinthos on General Hospital and her appearance on the twelfth season of The Bachelor . In the reality dating program, Lamas won the heart of British Bachelor Matt Grant.
During the season finale, Grant chose Lamas and asked her to be his wife. Although Lamas accepted the proposal, they romance was short-lived. The couple announced they ended their engagement in 2008.
In addition to her appearance on The Bachelor and General Hospital , the actress has also appeared in Leave it to Lamas , Couples Therapy , and Air America .
In 2010, Lamas married internet personality Nik Richie. The couple announced the birth of their daughter, Press Dahl Lamas-Richie, on November 11, 2011. On January 19, 2014, they announced they were expecting their second child.
On Sunday, Lamas collapsed in the couple’s California home. People reports the actress was rushed to the hospital , where doctors determined she was bleeding internally. During an emergency surgery, the actress suffered a miscarriage.
Although Lamas and Richie will certainly need time to recover from losing their unborn child, Shayne Lamas is physically stable and recovering as expected. Despite the dire rumors, the surgery was a success and the actress is expected to fully recover.
