Justin Timberlake Preparing To Launch His Own Premium Tequila

Justin Timberlake is preparing to enter the very lucrative world of premium tequila.

Although the People's Choice award winner originally launched the 901 line of tequila back in 2009, Timberlake is reportedly joining forces with the folks at Beam Inc. to re-brand and relaunch the liquor under the name Sauza 901. The number is reference to his hometown area code in Memphis, Tennessee.

"My love for tequila began a few years ago after I visited the tequila heartland of Jalisco, Mexico, and saw the passion and craftsmanship that goes into every bottle. That trip inspired me to create 901, and I'm thrilled to partner with Sauza so we can continue to bring the world 901," Justin Timberlake explained.

According to the official press release, Sauza 901 "offers a super smooth, triple-distilled 100 percent agave tequila." If you're the sort of person who loves to consume drinks concocted by celebrities, then you'll have an opportunity to prepare an expensive version of Timberlake's Mexican Mule.

Since Justin Timberlake has a tendency to make money wherever he goes, Beam's Bill Newlands was understandably excited to join forces with the singer. Newlands said he hopes that Sauza 901 is the beginning of a long-standing relationship between the company and the performer.

"We look forward to driving Sauza 901 in the marketplace with the backing of Beam's powerful marketing, sales and distribution organization. This is amazing liquid, and we believe Sauza 901 will challenge industry norms and transform the way people think about tequila," he explained in a recent statement.

Since Justin Timberlake recently joined forces with Beam, this means his partnership with Anheuser-Busch InBev is coming to a close. Although the singer signed a deal with the company last February to help out with the Bud Light Platinum brand, a spokesperson confirmed that Timberlake is parting ways with the company.

"Bud Light Platinum and Justin Timberlake had an amazing partnership in 2013 that helped both Justin Timberlake and Bud Light Platinum reach deeper connections with consumers. [Mr. Timberlake] will always be a friend of Anheuser-Busch, and we look forward to future opportunities when they arise," the company's rep explained.

While details about the arrangement with Beam Inc. are popping around the internet right now, the singer's representatives haven't issued any details about the arrangement as of this writing. Details about his financial agreement with Beam are also unavailable at the moment.
