Kat Von D Lipstick ‘Celebutard’ Pulled For Offensive Name, She Rants On Twitter

Kat Von D just had her lipstick pulled from stores for having an offensive name, and the tattoo artist isn’t too happy about it.

Kat has a line of lipstick and nail polishes that she calls Painted Love, and all of them have descriptive and slightly risque names like “Hellbent” and “Backstage Bambi.”

But it was a shade of lipstick called “Celebutard’ that got Kat Von D in trouble. The name was seen as offensive by disability groups, and Sephora ultimately decided to pull it from their shelves.

“It has come to our attention that the name of one shade of a lipstick we carry has caused offense to some of our clients and others,” the store said in a statement released via CTV. “We are deeply sorry for that, and we have ceased sale of that shade both in our stores and online.”

Kim Stagliano, managing editor of Age of Autism, told HuffPost Style blog that the name was offensive to a group that often lacks the public voice of other minorities.

“People with disabilities are the last to benefit from what some might call ‘political correctness,’ and what I would call basic human decency,” said Stagliano. “Retard is still bandied about.”

But Kat Von D apparently didn’t see the big deal, Tweeting, “At the end of the day, it’s just a f—— lipstick”

She later deleted the tweet.

The move by Sephora to take “Celebutard” off the shelves marks what’s been a difficult stretch for Kat Von D. Earlier this year, her engagement to musician Deadmau5 came to an abrupt end, with Kat admitting that it was infidelity that ended the relationship.

Kat Von D tweeted, “man, I’m a fool” before offering a longer explanation.

“Cheating on your loved one is the most hurtful thing one could do,” Kat Von D wrote. “I hate to have to admit, that this relationship is indeed over.”

Her fiance, whose real name is Joel Zimmerman, later shared his side of the story on Facebook.

“Kat and I split in November and I moved back home to Toronto,” he wrote. “During this time, while we were broken up, I did have relations with another woman. Following that, Kat and I reconciled and I acknowledged being intimate with another person while we were estranged.”

Kat Von D has seen other relationships come crashing down, including a three-year marriage to Oliver Peck and a short-lived engagement to Sandra Bullock’s ex-husband, Jesse James.
