Bob Barker No Longer Ashamed Of ‘The Price Is Right,’ Plans To Return

Bob Barker has ended his feud with The Price Is Right, putting aside his differences and returning to celebrate his 90th birthday on the set of the show.

Last year, Barker very publicly called out the CBS game show after it awarded prizes to Sea World and the Calgary Stampede, which the animal rights activist said are events that glorify the mistreatment of animals.

Bob Barker wasn’t shy about sharing his feelings, saying he was ashamed of the show.

The slight also came after Bob wasn’t invited back for the show’s 40th anniversary special.

“I don’t know why I wasn’t asked to take part in some way… But I do know I am ashamed of the show and surprised at their complete disregard for the welfare of animals,” he said. “Were I still there, a prize to attend the Calgary Stampede would never have been considered. We never did anything that condoned animal cruelty. Apparently, things have changed.”

But now Bob has agreed to come back, spending a week on the air as the show honors him for his 90th birthday. There will be prizes related to the birthday and tributes to Barker, who hosted the show for 35 years before turning it over to Drew Carey.

In inviting Bob Barker to return, CBS seems to have made a bit of a peace offering. According to TV Guide, the show will be celebrating with pet adoptions during the week-long tribute, and Bob will sign off each show with his signature phrase: “Bob Barker reminding you: Help control the pet population. Have your pet spayed or neutered.”

“I was looking for the perfect reason to bring Bob back again, and this TV legend turning 90 is the perfect reason,” executive producer Mike Richards told TV Guide.

The Bob Barker tribute episodes of The Price Is Right will air the week of December 9 through December 13.
