The time for playing games is over. Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark will face a full on war in the new movie The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.
The final trailer for the new Hunger Games movie made its debut this weekend. The Catching Fire clip shows Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) in the aftermath of the 74th annual hunger games.
President Snow (Donald Sutherland) says: “Ms. Everdeen, you fought very hard in the arena. But those were games. Would you like to be in a real war?”
Katniss became a symbol of hope for her district during the first The Hunger Games movie and now she faces the wrath of the government. Katniss, of course, isn’t going down quietly. The new trailer starts with Katniss raising her bow into the sky and shooting an arrow at a surveillance camera.
Catching Fire won’t hit theaters for another month but fans are getting pretty excited for the followup to the original The Hunger Games movie. The new movie will see the return of principal actors like Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth, and new recruits like Phillip Seymour Hoffman and Julianne Moore.
The Hunger Games was a huge hit for Lionsgate earning nearly $700 million at the box office worldwide. With the addition of Hoffman and Moore, an Oscar statue for Jennifer Lawrence, and an increasing amount of hype surrounding Catching Fire, the new movie could easily top its predecessor and may join the $1 billion club.
