3 Oklahoma Teens Kill Man Because They Were Bored

Three Oklahoma teens killed an Australian baseball player on Monday because they were “bored” and thought it would be “fun” to kill someone. Christopher Lane was visiting Duncan, Oklahoma with his girlfriend when he passed a home where the boys were staying. A 17-year-old teen in the group gave a full confession to police, but the weapon used in the attack has yet to be recovered.

The 17-year-old was assisted by 15-year-old and 16-year-old boys who remain in custody at this time. The states district attorney is expected to file first-degree murder charges on Tuesday. It’s not known at this time if the teens will be charged as adults.

According to Police Chief Danny Ford, “They saw Christopher go by, and one of them said: ‘There’s our target.’ The boy who has talked to us said, ‘We were bored and didn’t have anything to do, so we decided to kill somebody.'” The Oklahoma teens followed the 22-year-old baseball player in a car before shooting him in the back. Speaking to TV station KOCO, Ford said one of the boys said the man was shot and killed for “the fun of it.”Speaking about his death Lane’s girlfriend, Sarah Harper, told the Australian Broadcasting Corp.:

“He didn’t deserve any of this. It’s heartbreaking that it was such a random choice those guys made that drastically altered so many lives in the process.”

Lane was shot in the back with a.22 revolver, which police are still hoping to to recover.

Lane died at the scene of the shooting after a female witness attempted to save his life with CPR.

No further details have been released at this time. The police investigation is still ongoing.

Do you think the three Oklahoma teens should be tried as adults given their complete lack of respect for human life?
