Hugh Jackman Offered $100 Million To Return As Wolverine [Rumor]

Hugh Jackman may not be interested in reprising his role as Wolverine anytime soon, but the folks at 20th Century Fox are hoping $100 million will change his mind.

The actor has given fans mixed signals regarding his future with the franchise. Jackman admitted earlier this summer that he wasn’t sure that he wanted to return for James Mangold’s The Wolverine. He didn’t seem entirely convinced that another go-around was such a good idea.

“I wasn’t even sure after the first [stand-alone] film if I would do. I won’t say never, because I’m still loving it. But there would have to be a pretty compelling reason,” he explained back in June.

The folks at 20th Century Fox may have found a very compelling reason for Hugh Jackman to return to the franchise for no less than four more sequels. Should the actor decide to sign another multi-picture contract, he will reportedly add $100 million to his bank account.

It’s worth pointing out that this news is coming directly from The National Enquirer. Although the magazine gets a few things right every now and then, they also get a lot of things wrong. For the moment, it’s best to approach this rumor with extreme skepticism.

However, it’s not completely outrageous to think that 20th Century Fox wants to keep Hugh Jackman around for as long as possible. Mangold’s The Wolverine has generated approximately $304 million worldwide, which means the studio might be interested in putting together another adventure.

There is one problem: Jackman’s wife is reportedly interested in her husband tackling more serious roles going forward. Since it’s always good to keep the peace in one’s household, he may not be down for another turn as the immortal superhero. Only time will tell in this case.
