William Shatner has signed on to guest star in the live premiere of Hot In Cleveland when it airs on June 19 at 10 p.m. EST. The 82-year-old will be joined by Brian Baumgartner of The Office, who will also be making a guest appearance on the TV Land shows’ live opening.
Shatner won’t be the oldest star in the premiere, as 91-year-old Betty White will continue her role as the housekeeper. Pulling out his inner-comedian, Shatner said of joining White, “At long, long last, I am working with someone older than me.”
The American sitcom features a group of single friends from Los Angeles that make the move to the East Coast. The show also stars Valerie Bertinelli, Jane Leeves, and Wendie Malick, who are all signed on for the fourth season.
Hot In Cleveland has become the TV Land channel’s biggest hit since it’s original premiere in 2010. The fourth season will start right where the show left off, as the character Joy (Jane Leeves) will find out what Elka (Betty White) and Mamie (Georgia Engel) have been up to.
“There will be mobsters, mistaken identities, special guest stars, and twists and turns,” TV Land said in a press release. It’s unknown what role William Shatner will play in the live premiere, though he’s sure to be right in the mix on June 19.
He’s been busy of late, and he recently made a surprise appearance at Comic Con in Denver this week to give a reading of Where The Wild Things Are. His appearance has received mixed reviews as he put together a frightening, yet somewhat inspirational read to an audience of kids at the major event.
Now he will take to the CBS Studio Center in Studio City, Calif., to perform in front of a live audience at Stage 19 for the premiere of Hot In Cleveland. The show won’t air on the West Coast until 10 p.m. PDT, three hours after the live showing in the East.
Do you think William Shatner is the right choice to guest star on the Hot In Cleveland show’s fourth season live premiere?
