Justin Timberlake might be close to releasing a new song soon. Early this week, the 36-year-old sparked rumors on Twitter after posting a cryptic message about studio etiquette.
According to People, Justin Timberlake made fans wonder if he’s dropping a new album by posting this cryptic tweet:
“Studio Rule #1: If the artist plays their music and you are on your phone looking at your social media… Chances are, you’re an A**HOLE.”
Now that he’s back in the studio, several of his fans went crazy thinking that he could be releasing a new song soon. A few even encouraged Timberlake to share a preview of his music if he needed feedback. Some, however, pointed out that perhaps the new track was not as good and the person was just trying to avoid giving him his honest opinion.
It has been over a year since Justin Timberlake released his smash hit “Can’t Stop the Feeling.” During an appearance on Today, Timberlake told Willie Geist how fatherhood helped change his style of writing. The actor-singer explained that before having Silas, his 2-year-old son with Jessica Biel, he has never thought of writing a song like “Can’t Stop the Feeling.”
“I don’t know that it was directly inspired to be something that my son could listen to of mine — because there’s a lot of music he can’t listen to of mine, at least not yet,” he said.
“Can’t Stop the Feeling” eventually was nominated for an Oscar from the movie Trolls. It was also Timberlake’s first No. 1 single in 10 years, which sold over 2.4 million downloads.
In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, Justin Timberlake revealed that he knew exactly what his next album was going to be even though he has no definite date for its release just yet. He shared that he has been working on this project for months, alongside Pharrell, Timbaland, and Max Martin, who also co-wrote “Can’t Stop the Feeling.”
Timberlake promised fans that his next album is going to be a lot more authentic compared to his previous works.
“It sounds more like where I’ve come from than any other music I’ve ever made. It’s Memphis. It’s Southern American music. But I want to make it sound modern — at least that’s the idea right now,” he shared.
After the album is done, Timberlake is still not sure if he will be going on tour for this one. His last tour was back in 2013 for his third album, 20/20. Although it was extremely successful, raking in $231 million, which is his highest-grossing tour to date, Timberlake recalled how stressful going in tour was.
“Going on tour is a circus. You set up the tents, you play the show, you tear the tents down and go on to the next place. It’s like Groundhog Day. After the 125th show, you feel debilitated,” he said.
Justin Timberlake also admitted that he’s still having a hard time choosing which path to take. Even though he has no movies lined up since the Woody Allen project wrapped in November, Timberlake still wanted to continue acting. He shared that he has always been a fan of the golden era of Hollywood, when actors were required to sing and move.
Now being a family man made the decision even harder for Timberlake. He shared that watching Silas jump around to “Can’t Stop the Feeling” is the best thing in the world. When asked if he wanted his son to follow in his footsteps someday, Timberlake shared that he would not stop him if he truly has his heart set.
“You know, I haven’t been able to answer that question in my mind. If he wanted it bad enough, I suppose I could teach him a lot about what not to do,” he shared.
