Selena Gomez And The Weeknd Confirm They Won’t Be Collaborating On An Album

Selena Gomez and The Weeknd may be passionately in love, but the pair won’t be collaborating on an album, at least any time soon. While fans speculated that the two might be fusing their love together musically, Selena dashed everyone’s hopes in an interview with 103.3?s The TJ Show in Boston.

When asked if the couple were going to create an album together, or at least one song, Selena Gomez confirmed it wasn’t happening.

“No, no we’re not,” she said.

Apparently, it was reported that Selena Gomez’s new single, “In Her Element” would be a collaboration with her sweetheart. But she put those rumors to bed.

“I can’t give those people what they want. I’m sorry, and it’s not true.”

But while she and The Weeknd may not be collaborating musically, the pair are truly in love, say friends.

“She is head over heels in love with Abel [The Weeknd]. This relationship is very different than the one she had with [Justin] Bieber,” a source told E! News.

Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber shared a very tumultuous relationship that was on-again and off-again for three years. However, the pair ultimately parted ways for good in 2014 and Selena has moved on to bigger and better horizons.

The source added that Selena Gomez is in a different place mentally, and therefore their relationship is much more rooted on true love and maturity than her failed relationship with pop star Justin Bieber.

“This love is very mature and she is in a different head space now. She has really found who she is and what makes her happy. She loves Abel and he loves her. They have gotten to know each other very well and have learned from their past relationships what they want and don’t want. They both met each other’s families and they all approve,” the source added.

Selena Gomez is keeping busy with producing Season 2 of 13 Reasons Why and creating new music. She recently released the single “Bad Liar,” which is likely about her beau, The Weeknd.

Her songwriting collaborator, Justin Tranter, confirmed the song is about, “when you first start having feelings for someone, but don’t want to admit it, which turns you into a ‘Bad Liar.'”

She went on to explain the song in a bit more detail.

“It kind of tells a story. It’s that feeling when you’re obsessed with someone, when you first initially, I always say the ‘honeymoon stage,’ and I’m a sucker for that feeling. It’s the best feeling in the whole world. I think that feeling, you can’t get them out of your head, you’re willing to want to dress differently, you want to be differently. It’s not what I’m encouraging, it’s more about that feeling that you can’t keep it cool,” she said.

Selena Gomez confessed that she had been sitting on the song for about a year, which means she may have had feelings for The Weeknd longer than anyone knows. While rumors the pair were an item didn’t start until January of this year when they were spotted out at a restaurant together looking incredibly loved-up, the two met in 2015 at a Victoria’s Secret show.

The young singer has taken time off to care for her health after being diagnosed with lupus SLE and to take care of her depression and anxiety the disease caused. Due to this, she may have taken a break from the dating scene, but seized the opportunity when she and The Weeknd finally reunited.

Friends are saying that this relationship is incredibly healthy and “the real deal.” So it seems like the couple may actually be in it for the long haul.
