Teacup Piglets: coming soon to a celebrity near you

teacup piglets

The latest craze in pet ownership in the United Kingdom is teacup piglets, and they’ll soon be coming to a celebrity near you.

The so-called “teacup piglets” are actually miniature pigs, and get their name due to their size: they weigh around half a pound at birth and grow to 12 to 16 inches (30-40cms) in height, roughly around the size of a small spaniel.

Teacup Pig breeders claim that they make excellent pets because they’re clean, intelligent and are capable of giving back.

The breed has only been on sale in the UK for 6 months, and has already attracted celebrity interest with Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley in Harry Potter) among owners. The pigs aren’t currently available in the United States, but will likely appear some time next year.
