Police taser unarmed man who has no legs and gets around in a wheelchair

Police in Merced, California are under fire after they tasered an unarmed man who has no legs and gets around in a wheelchair.

To add insult to injury, 40 year old Gregory Williams (the man tasered) spent six days in jail on suspicion of domestic violence and (here’s the kicker) resisting arrest.

Williams told local media that he wasn’t physically aggressive to the officers, and he didn’t resist arrest. He also claims he was publicly humiliated after his pants fell down during the incident. The arrest left him with an injured shoulder that limits his mobility in his wheelchair.

Eyewitnesses back Williams’ claim that he didn’t resist arrest, and at least one was told by the officers that if he didn’t back away, he’d be tasered as well.

The charges against Williams have been dropped due to “lack of evidence.” The two officers involved remain on active duty.
